Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in width overall consisting of a green silhouetted soldier in combat gear advancing with weapon upraised, to the left (for left shoulder wear) and to the right (for right shoulder wear), in front of a disc quartered of blue and red having at center throughout a gold compass rose; supporting the base a blue scroll with gold ends inscribed with the words "THE ULTIMATE WEAPON" in gold letters.

Symbolism
The representation of the statue located at Fort Dix Training Center is symbolic of the Center itself and of its mission to train the American Soldier as "The Ultimate Weapon" as expressed by the motto.  Blue, scarlet and yellow are the colors of the combat arms and also allude to the US Army Training and Doctrine Command.  The worldwide scope of the Training Center's mission is denoted by the compass rose in the background.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 24 March 1982.
